Dr. Pikman is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and an investigator within the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She received her A.B. degree in Biology at Barnard College and completed her MD degree at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Pikman completed pediatric residency training in the Boston Combined Residency Program, followed by pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She completed her post-doctoral training in the lab of Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier.
Outside of the lab, Yana enjoys practicing her baking skills (and having tasters), Peloton-ing, and spending time with her husband and kids.
Jonathan Paolino, MD Postdoctoral fellow Instructor in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Paolino received his MD degree at UMass Medical School. He completed pediatric residency at Massachusetts General Hospital where he was also a Chief Resident. Dr. Paolino joined the Pikman lab in July 2021 with an interest in addressing combination treatments using novel drugs targeting the apoptotic pathway.
Outside of the lab, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his five children.
Ilona Sviezhentseva, PhD Postdoctoral fellow
Dr. Sviezhentseva received her PhD degree from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, in Kyiv, Ukraine. During her PhD, Dr. Sviezhentseva studied chronic myeloid leukemia under the direction of Dr. Denys Bilko. Dr. Sviezhentseva joined the Pikman lab in October 2022 with an interest in addressing how to target the MAPK pathway in pediatric acute leukemia. Outside of the lab, Ilona enjoys reading, embroidery and beadwork.
Talia Volpicelli Research Technician
Talia is a recent graduate of Georgetown University where she did research with Dr. Paul Roepe studying methods to overcome malaria resistance to therapy. She joined the Pikman lab in June 2022. Ask Talia about book recommendations! She also enjoys cycling.
Sean Gow Research Technician
Sean is a recent graduate of Boston University. He received a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a MA in Biotechnology. At BU, Sean worked with Dr. Frank Naya to study role of genomic imprinting in muscle development and function. Sean joined the Pikman lab in September 2022. In his spare time, Sean enjoys painting warhammer models and playing with his dog.
